The Rodin Museum was created in 1919, on Rodin's initiative, thanks to three successive donations made by the artist to the State of his works, his collections, his library, his letters and manuscripts It is established on the site chosen by the sculptor: the Hôtel Biron and its garden, a private mansion built at the beginning of the 18th century, which Rodin had occupied as a tenant since 1908. The latter also donated his residence to Meudon, the Villa des Brillants, which is now an annex of the museum. The international reputation of the artist, author of universally known sculptures, such as The Thinker, who has become an icon of Western art.
